Our Story

For over 6 years, Coaches Kolaches has been the go-to destination for indulging in a savory Texas-style twist on the classic Czech pastry. Our journey began with a vision to bring the authentic taste of Texas to the Midwest! Our Founder and CEO, Brent "Coach" Curvey – a former Iowa State football star and NFL player, set out to introduce a beloved staple growing up to Des Moines, Iowa. The magic started in his kitchen, where he meticulously crafted a one-of-a-kind dough recipe that would become the cornerstone of our delectable Kolaches. In 2017, the dream became reality as Coaches Kolaches opened its first location, becoming an instant sensation.

 

Growth is on the menu so that led Coach to team up with his close friend and Drake University football alum, Chris Wilson. Together, they embarked on the exciting journey of expanding our Kolache haven into Urbandale. At Coaches it's not just about Kolaches; it's about giving back to our local community, creating unforgettable moments and sharing the love of Texas flavors with our customers.
